29th National Children’s Month Celebration

Today, November 22, 2021, Kalipay Negrense Foundation joined several other child-caring institutions around the province in a virtual celebration of the 29th National Children’s Month!

The day started with a Vocal Solo Competition and a Poster Making Contest. The Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC) has also generously provided lunch which they had delivered to all the participating institutions so they can all eat together in a virtual “salo-salo” . The day ended with a fun introduction to Larong Pinoy (traditional Filipino games) playing Sungka and Kadang-Kadang.

All the KALIPAY children had a blast with the activities. They were very excited to see and interact with other children from other shelters, albeit virtually. Our representative *Jillian won 2nd Place in the Vocal Solo Competition singing Sana by Amy Nobleza. And *Jeremiah won a Consolation Prize for the Poster Making Contest. KALIPAY is very proud of the both of them! Thank you to the wonderful teachers of the Kalipay Learning Center for training and coaching our contestants as well as setting up the virtual viewing.

Kudos to the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC), Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO) and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental for making this happen! The difficult situation with this pandemic hasn’t stopped you all from creating fun, engaging and meaningful activities for the child-caring institutions and their beneficiaries. We appreciate all the work you do!

*Names have been changed to protect the identity of the children mentioned.

*The school, Kalipay Learning Center, is located inside the Recovered Treasures compound; the teachers are also living within the grounds- allowing the children to attend classes face to face. Visitors are not allowed to enter the Home for health and safety reasons..
