It was only last July that KALIPAY’s shelter, Recovered Treasures Home was finally outfitted with an Internet connection, and the school, Kalipay Learning Center, only last month. The children can now attend online classes newly integrated into their formerly modular school curriculum
More exciting for the children are the webinars, online workshops, and activities they can now join. It has been over a year that the children haven’t received any visitors at the Home due to the pandemic, proving this online interaction to be a wonderful opportunity for them to see and meet new people.
Last Saturday, Anna C. Balcells, our Founder and President, surprised the kids with a virtual “kamustahan”. Although she has spent time with the children earlier this month, it is comforting to know that the kids can see their Tita Anna more frequently this way.
The following are the online webinars the children have participated in:
– Career Talk by Fitch Ratings, July 15, 2021, via Zoom.
– External Online Programming Tutorial by UPLB Computer Science Society, Sept. 1, 2021, via Zoom.
– Make a World of Difference: Young Leaders Forum by First Farmers Toastmasters Club, Sept. 18, 2021, via Zoom
*All online activities are screened and monitored closely by the school teachers and Home Parents. Children are not allowed to access the Internet during their free time.
