Kalipay Children Baptized
Last Friday, October 22, 2021, on the very Feast Day of Saint John Paul II, 46 KALIPAY children were baptized into the Catholic faith. The Sacrament was officiated by Rev. Fr. Julius Habana.
It was a touching moment to see all the candidates dressed in white, receiving this most beautiful sacrament, made more meaningful as the Home Parents stood as their Godparents, and witnessed by KALIPAY Founder and President, Anna C. Balcells.
This baptism is the answer of KALIPAY to several months of the children asking and questioning their Home Parents and teachers about their faith. The Board of Trustees has heeded this call with the formation of the Spiritual Life Program to guide the children on this very important aspect of their lives. The children attend mass regularly at the Home and have received catechism. Since its implementation, there has been a marked improvement in the children’s disposition.
The baptism was followed by a simple lunch and a short program where the children and staff performed a surprise dance number for their Tita Anna Balcells who recently celebrated her Birthday. All in all, it was a Friday the entire KALIPAY Family most wonderfully spent.
*All KALIPAY staff and teachers are fully vaccinated and living within the compound. External visitors are not allowed to enter the Home for health and safety reasons.
