Riverside College’s third-year Nursing students are fully immersed in their impactful Clinical Exposure at Kalipay. Every week, 20 compassionate students, working in dedicated teams, not only facilitate learning and engage in recreational activities but also play a crucial role in caring for toddlers and assisting the psychologist in updating valuable data.
Alongside their clinical instructors, the students lead Health Teaching sessions, imparting essential knowledge to the children on Nail Care, Headlice and Hair Care, and Hygiene. These sessions go beyond basic care, extending to empowering the children with skills such as dressing wounds, performing CPR, and responding to choking incidents. Additionally, occupational activities like crocheting and basket weaving are incorporated, providing therapeutic and skill-building experiences. By the end of each week, the Nursing Students culminate their Clinical Exposure with games and fun activities with the children of Kalipay.
The presence of these future healthcare professionals contributes significantly to Kalipay’s mission, elevating the overall quality of care and support provided to the children. With each passing week, we joyfully witness tangible progress in the development of our children, showcasing the profound impact of empathy in action.
